This Year is Different

The hard truth is, the impact of the unending shutdown of live theatre, and its mounting collateral damage, has been profound.  Now more than ever, American Stage depends on your support.

Why Give Now?

This year, please consider investing in American Stage. Together we can reimagine, and we can recover. Because when we come together and share stories representing our diverse perspectives and experiences, we expand our world, our differences cease to divide us and we become united through the shared experience of what it is to be human. Thank you for believing in the power of live theatre to help to heal our community.

“The country needs to be healed — it’s not going to be healed from the top, politically. How are we going to heal? Art is the healing force.”

-Robert Redford, 2012

MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING by William Shakespeare
    A New American Stage Adaptation
    November 8 – December 10, 2017

WE THE PEOPLE…ARE RIDICULOUS IN LOVE

As World War II is drawing to a close, Beatrice rails against the roles expected of women of her era. Benedick has just arrived home from the war and is not ready to be tied down. Who needs marriage?! The two face off in a hilarious battle of wits in this American Stage take on the Bard’s famous romantic comedy about the war between the sexes. Full of live music and dance and set against the backdrop of the bright sunshine of the Florida Keys, this exuberant, philosophical, and festive play reminds us that no one is immune when it comes to matters of the heart.
