American Stage Theatre Company is proud to announce new opportunities!

Our 2012-2013 Acting and Theatre Education Internships
New this year!  American Stage is seeking Acting and Theatre Education Interns for their 2012-2013 season.  There will be 3 individual “semesters” of internships; Fall, Spring and Summer.

Auditions for the Fall Acting/Education Internship and for the Fall Acting Internship will be held on two dates at American Stage Theatre Company:

August 14th from 12-4pm
August 27th from 12-4pm   

American Stage Education is also offering Fall Classes for youth and adults. 
There will be 4 youth and young adult classes as well as 3 adult classes.

Fall Acting/Education Internship
September 10, 2012 to December 16, 2012 

Needed:  3 interns total - female and male interns accepted
Availability: Full Time, open availability with a minimum of 30 hours
Stipend:  $1,400 paid weekly over 14 weeks – housing and benefits not included
Primary duties will include:

  • Acting in large roles for the American Stage School Tour
  • Understudy roles for our Mainstage theatrical productions
  • Assist Teaching Artists with community outreach and fee based classes
  • Attend master classes – examples of include audition technique, monologue and script analysis and the business of theatre
  • Observe, collaborate alongside and make connections with working theatre professionals from around the country and teaching artists
  • Selected interns may be invited to stay on for another session as an acting only intern.

Fall Acting Internship
September 10, 2012 to December 23, 2012

Needed:  3 to 4 interns total – 2 to 3 females and 1 male intern accepted
Availability: Full Time, open availability with a minimum of 30 hours
Stipend:  $1,500 paid weekly over 15 weeks – housing and benefits not included
Primary duties will include:

  • Act in small roles in our Mainstage theatrical productions (HYSTERIA, WIT, and A DOLL’S HOUSE)
  • Understudy major roles
  • Serve as crew for all performances
  • Attend master classes – examples of include audition technique, monologue and script analysis and the business of theatre
  • Observe, collaborate alongside and make connections with working theatre professionals from around the country

Spring Acting Internship
December 27, 2012 to May 26, 2013  

Needed:  2 interns total – 2 females accepted
Availability: Full Time, open availability with a minimum of 30 hours
Stipend:  $2,100 paid weekly over 21 weeks – housing and benefits not included
Primary duties will include:

  • Act in small roles in our Mainstage theatrical productions (THE PIANO LESSON, WHEN THE WORLD WAS GREEN, THE AMISH PROJECT)  and American Stage in the Park production of THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE)
  • Understudy major roles
  • Serve as crew for all performances
  • Attend master classes – examples of include audition technique, monologue and script analysis and the business of theatre
  • Observe, collaborate alongside and make connections with working theatre professionals from around the country

Summer Acting Internship
May 7 to September 8, 2013  

Needed:
  2-3 interns total – 1-2 males and 1 female accepted
Availability: Full Time, open availability with a minimum of 30 hours
Stipend:  $1,800 paid weekly over 18 weeks – housing and benefits not included
Primary duties will include:

  • Act in small roles in our mainstage productions (7 HOMELESS MAMMOTHS WANDER NEW ENGLAND, MY NAME IS ASHER LEV, and ART)
  • Understudy major roles
  • Serve as crew for all performances
  • Attend master classes
  • Observe, collaborate alongside and make connections with working theatre professionals from around the country
