DJ Fourquet is a recent graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he earned a BA in Directing, Dramaturgy, and Dramatic Writing. During his time at UNCC, DJ grew to appreciate theatre administration as well as production. Each semester, DJ helped as a producer and director on 24/7, a campus theatre festival in which a cohort of students wrote, rehearsed, and performed 7 original plays in 24 hours. Also of note, DJ was a founding production manager and emcee for the Golden Reel Film Festival. On multiple occasions, DJ has joined American Stage as both an administrative and technical intern. DJ is ecstatic to, once again, be part of the American Stage family and hopes to leave a lasting mark on the company and the St. Petersburg community.

Why the Apprentice program: I’ve come to love American Stage from the few times I’ve worked with the theater. It felt like a natural step, after graduation, to continue growing alongside this company and the amazing community it fosters in St. Pete.
What, if not theatre would you be doing?: I love learning about cooking and mixology. So, I would probably be trying to work in a restaurant or a bar, or maybe even joining a culinary school.
Favorite Play: “Sweat: by Lynn Nottage or “Julius Caesar” by William Shakespeare but there are so many runners up.
Favorite Movie: Zhang Yimou’s “Hero” or Edgar Wright’s “Scott Pilgrim v. The World.”
Favorite TV Show: Hogan’s Heroes
Top of my Playlist: Sorority Noise and T. Rex
Hopes and dreams: If I could have it my way I would try anything and everything. But since that’s impossible, I would love to open my own theatre company with a mission to bring diverse and engaging theatre to communities lacking the resources to stage such performances themselves.
Hobbies: Reading, Long Drives, Chess, Dungeons and Dragons, and Cooking
All I want is: more time to think about an answer to this question.
