American Stage Theatre Company continues its “After Hours” series with the return of Frank and Malachy McCourt’s comedy, A Couple of Blaguards, running Aug. 24 thru 29. This triumphant return engagement will once again star patron favorites Howard Platt and Jarlath Conroy.
Written by Frank McCourt, who is best known fo…r his novel “Angela’s Ashes,” and Malachy McCourt, A Couple of Blaguards tells the brother’s tales of boyhood in Limerick and early adulthood as immigrants in New York. While pathos lurks beneath the humorous observations of behavior under the pressure of poverty, bigotry, and adversity, the chief intent of the stories of childhood privation, escape, and adult misadventure is simply to laugh at life’s absurdities.
