"A production to cherish, the sort of drama that gets under your skin and challenges you to evaluate not just its characters’ lives but your own. Check this show out: it’s unembarrassedly aimed at every mortal in the theater, and it’s about a subject that no one can claim is irrelevant. It may even change you a little."
– Mark Leib, Creative Loafing

“Exceptional, poignant, tender, warm and sentimental. Be prepared to laugh and cry. Michael Edwards' performance was spellbinding. The play reflects all the qualities the company has imparted to audiences for the past 30 years. As the first show in the Raymond James Theatre, American Stage's new home, it's the perfect segue for many years more of the same.”
– Kathy L. Greenberg, Tampa Tribune

“Both Edwards and Mena give stellar performances, capturing the audience with every laugh, tear and concern they shed on stage. Powerful and endearing, Morrie shines in the new venue. American Stage’s state-of-the-art theater is spacious and contemporary, it maintains the intimate feel beloved by fans of its old home"
–January Holmes, Bradenton Herald

American Stage Theatre Company performs its first play at the Raymond James Theatre, its new performance space, Tuesdays with Morrie, running June 3 thru July 5. Tuesday, June 30 will be a "Pay What You Can" night, and there will be no performances on Saturday, July 4.

One of the Top 10 most-produced plays in America this season, Tuesdays with Morrie is Jeffrey Hatcher's comic and moving dramatization of the story that was on the New York Times Best-Seller List for more than four years. It is the autobiographical story of celebrated journalist Mitch Albom, his former college professor Morrie Schwartz, and what happens when both are reunited for one of the last great classes on the meaning of life.

Directed by T. Scott Wooten (Sleuth), Tuesdays with Morrie stars Chaz Mena (By the Waters of Babylon) and American Stage newcomer Michael Edwards.

"It's very rare in theatre that you get to open a brand new performance space, so I'm very happy that we get to break the seal on the Raymond James Theatre with this timeless play about celebrating the past and moving on to better places," said Todd Olson, producing artistic director. "This is a very funny and poignant play that is sure to begin great new memories for American Stage and its patrons."
