THE TRIPPERS ARE GOING TO THE SHAW FESTIVAL!

By April 1, 2018 Travel Trippers

It’s that time again, the American Stage Travel Trippers are heading to NIAGARA ON THE LAKE for the George Bernard Shaw Festival!

General Manager, and Lead Tripper, Tom Block shares 5 of the most exciting things on the docket for this year’s trip:

5. Sarah Ruhl’s STAGE KISS
STAGE-KISS

“When I kissed you just now, did it feel like an actor kissing an actor or a person kissing a person?” asks the heroine of STAGE KISS.

Two bitter exes are cast in the same play as passionate lovers. Will they strangle each other? Or seduce each other? And how can we tell if it’s real or make-believe? Heartfelt and hilarious, this modern romantic comedy by Pulitzer Prize finalist playwright Sarah Ruhl will take you behind the curtain on a whole new level.

4. FOUR STAR PRINCE OF WALES HOTEL

QUESTION-4

Offering proximity to unique shops and boutiques and just steps from the world-renowned Shaw Festival Theatre. The historic Victorian-style hotel has amazing views, 110 individually decorated guest rooms, an award-winning restaurant, lounge and patio, a world-class spa and a lavish tea room serving afternoon tea daily.

When you step inside the Prince of Wales, you feel like you’ve been transported back in time. The lobby is wonderfully ornate with intricate hardwood floors, plush Victorian furniture, a stained glass mural, beautiful sculptures and plenty of fresh roses. Experience luxury and feel like royalty.

3. NIAGRA BUTTERFLY CONSERVATORY
BUTTERFLY

Located on the grounds of the Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens, visitors to the Butterfly Conservatory are transported to a tropical paradise full of lush vegetation, trickling waterfalls and thousands of vibrantly coloured butterflies. Over 2,000 butterflies, made up of 45 different species, call this beautiful space home. The self-guided walking tour of the Butterfly Conservatory begins with a short, informative video presentation.

2. GRAND HOTEL by Luther Davis
GRAND-HOTEL
This lavish musical, the winner of five Tony awards, brings together ten hotel guests who collide over one unforgettable night of love, betrayal, jealousy, and murder in the glamour of Berlin in the Roaring Twenties.

It is 1928. The world is between wars, the stock market is booming, Berlin is the center of high life and optimism rules the day. However, underneath it all, much is happening with the Grand Hotel’s illustrious clients. Inspired by Vicki Baum’s period novel, issues of life and death, financial ruin, love and murder converge as people come and go through the lobby of the Grand Hotel.
1. THE WORLD PREMIERE OF MYTHOS by Stephen Fry

MYTHOS

WORLD PREMIERE! The world’s most hilarious storyteller shares the world’s most fascinating myths. In this trilogy of plays (try to see them all!), Stephen Fry takes to The Shaw stage with gripping tales of the Greek gods, heroes and men who still echo today. Laugh-out-loud funny, mind-blowing and often personal, Mythos is a once-in-a-lifetime experience with the icon himself.
