American Stage Education nurtures intellectual, social, and emotional growth through inclusive and accessible programs, such as drama school classes, camps, productions for young audiences, and adult programs, rooted in the transformative power of storytelling, alongside meaningful collaborations with schools and community groups.

Drama School - Youth & Adult

American Stage offers unique classes where kids, teens, and adults can explore the joy of performing arts. Our year-round programs help students grow confidence as performers while encouraging creativity, curiosity, and emotional growth, all within a supportive, community-centered space.

Summer Camp

With around 20 sessions for ages 5 - 17, American Stage’s annual Summer Camp is designed to ignite students’ creative voices through a wide range of theatre education, from musical theatre intensives to puppetry and playwriting.Camp themes may change each year, but the fun is always guaranteed!

OUTREACH PROGRAM

School Tour

For over a generation, many children in the Tampa Bay area have experienced theatre for the first time through the American Stage School Tour, the longest-running program in American Stage history. Each year, professional theatre artists visit elementary schools to perform culturally relevant stories and provide teachers with a study guide aligned with Florida State Standards. In Pinellas County, the program is fully funded by the district and free for schools to participate.

OUTREACH PROGRAM

Write On! Pinellas Playwriting Residencies

Write On! Pinellas Playwriting Residencies offer educational modules in collaborative storytelling at no cost to Pinellas County secondary schools. Over the course of an academic semester, students develop their own plays, gaining confidence as they explore their creative voices, collaborate with peers, and cultivate empathy and self-awareness.

OUTREACH PROGRAM

Write On! Si Se Puede

Write On! Si Se Puede provides no-cost educational modules in collaborative storytelling for Pinellas County ESOL classrooms. Over the course of a semester, students create their own plays through kinesthetic learning and engagement with our culturally responsive school tour. This process helps them adapt and interpret stories while activating their creative voices, strengthening collaboration skills, and fostering self-awareness and empathy.

OUTREACH PROGRAM

Student Matinee

American Stage partners with local educators and the Pinellas County School District to provide students with access to high-quality, professional live theatre. Each year, at least two Mainstage productions are selected to align with educators’ curricula, offering a performance, a post-show talkback, and an in-class workshop led by an American Stage teaching artist.
